At Vascular Access On Demand, our Certified Vascular Access staff delivers the highest standard of care, professionalism and confidentiality. We offer peripheral IV placement, midline catheter placement and Peripherally inserted central catheter placement (PICC)
PERIPHERAL IV PLACEMENT
A short catheter (a few centimeters long) inserted through the skin into a peripheral vein (any vein not situated in the chest or abdomen). Anticipated therapy of 7 days or less for solutions/medications that are non-irritant and non-vesicant (pH between 5 and 9, osmolarity <600mOsm/L, dextrose concentration <10%, Isotonic).
MIDLINE CATHETER PLACEMENT
A vascular access device measuring 8 inches or less with the distal tip dwelling in the basilic, cephalic, or brachial vein, at or below the level of the axilla and distal to the shoulder. Does not enter the central vasculature. Anticipated therapy of 1-4 weeks for solutions/medications that are non-irritant and non-vesicant (pH between 5 and 9, osmolarity <600mOsm/L, dextrose concentration <10%, Isotonic).
PERIPHERALLY INSERTED CENTRAL CATHETER (PICC) PLACEMENT
A central vascular access device inserted into an extremity and advanced until the tip is positioned near the junction of the superior vena cava (SVC) and the right atrium (RA). Anticipated therapy of >4 weeks for solutions/medications that are known irritant or vesicant (pH <5 or >9, osmolarity >600mOsm/L, dextrose concentration >10%, Hypo/Hyper-tonic, parenteral nutrition, continuous chemotherapy).
We supply single, dual and triple lumen PICCs that are power injectable (capable of withstanding high-pressure injections up to 300psi).
* All midline and PICC lines are placed using ultrasound guidance.
** Sherlock 3CG tip positioning system used on PICC line placement according to FDA guidelines.
OTHER SERVICES:
- Experienced PICC RNs to your patient’s bedside, 24/7, 365 days to meet your access needs.
- RN phone consultation available 24 hours/day
- Administration of Cathflo, a declotting agent for central lines (medication not provided)
- IV medication administration (medication not provided)
- Troubleshooting of an existing IV line
- Port access (non-coring needle not provided)
- Removal of existing midline or non-tunneled central line
- Educational in-services for staff available upon request and scheduled in advance
